Atalanta continue their campaign after playing four Europa League games already this season. They had expected automatic entry into the group stage during the first month of the summer, but AC Milan’s European ban was overturned at the last minute and they were relegated to the qualifying rounds.
Atalanta start their league campaign on Monday night when they host newly promoted Frosinone. After finishing in the top seven last season, Radea are the team most likely to break out of the top six in Serie A. However, they do appear to be falling behind the Italian football giants ahead of the new season. They have at least plenty of time after playing in Europa League qualifying, but can Atalanta make another bid for the European spot with a win?
The visitors have just been promoted from the Serie B play-offs and they are preparing for their second Serie A campaign. They were quickly sacked in 2015/16 after successive promotions and finding themselves out of reach. Since then Frosinone has managed to consolidate their position in the second division and they are now returning to the top flight stronger than ever. However, they remain one of the favorites for relegation this season, although it could be a very interesting race for survival.
